Testing LightRein Radio Trigger

Hello there, how is aware that the company www.lightrein.com exist? What do they do? They basically do a lot of things for photographer, from Softbox, to Flashs to Radio Trigger, many different products can be found on their website. I learn their existence after stopping by at www.photoservice.ca for a new lens.

I found they were selling LightRein Radio triggers for a very good price (49$) Hot shoe not included. As I was stuggling with TTL and Commander mode when shooting outside but didn’t want to afford PW, I decided to purchase 1 Radio Trigger from LightRein. I trust my sale rep at Photoservice.ca and decided to test them out.

I was very surprised to see how good they were responding and decided to purchase 3 mores. After a few weeks doing several shoot, I had one who started to fail. It was a burden at start to try to return it with Photoservice.ca because they told me it couldn’t but after speaking for a while with the manager, they were able to set a deal with LightRein to easily return a defective Radio Trigger at no charges because there is a 3 years warrantee that comes with any radio trigger.

A few days later, a second Radio Trigger began to fail on me. It could work well but then every 8-9 pictures, the flash wouldn’t pop. Then after another shoot, every 2-3 pictures, the flash wouldn’t go on so I wrote a very long email to LightRein with interesting feedback and lots of detailed information asking why I was having an issue with a second Radio trigger in a Row. I can understand that they are not as pricey as any Pocket Wizard but never the less, when you offer a 3 years warrantee on a product, you must believe in it right?

Well, their CEO called me back about my email. He started asking me very detailed question about the issues I was experiencing and after a few hours, we decided that I would test them on the field as a professional photographer. so very soon, I should received a few example of their Radio Triggers and I will be posting my feedback here. LightRein were very open about having me putting my comments in here and I am exited to create some very nice Test Plan and provide professional Feedback.

If by any chance, you are looking to purchase a Radio Trigger in a near future and you are worried about something, just send me a quick email at ghislain@ghislainleduc.com and ask me to perform a test for you and I will.

So, cheers and have a great day! Once I receive the Radio Trigger, I will post my feedback here!

Take care

Ghislain

I just bought a Lightrein radio trigger from PhotoService today. It seems like a good deal because the other triggers on eBay are a similar price, but you have to pay shipping too, and there is probably no warranty either. I am excited to try them too… what were your results?
